New Getting Started Series of Tutorials – #1:  In the Beginning\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These short tutorials are designed to help you understand and use this program quickly. \u00a0The first tutorial can be viewed here: https:\/\/youtu.be\/qD0UH8vsQgA<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After you open the program, you\u2019ll see this black screen.\u00a0 This is a blank universe \u201cscene\u201d just waiting for universe objects to be placed on it.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To get started, click on the first box with a pencil in it.\u00a0 This shows the settings of the tool selected.\u00a0 Its default is the starfield tool which is usually the backdrop of every universe.\u00a0 This tool\u2019s settings are listed below.\u00a0 I recommend you increase the density and size of the starfield (highlighted) so that you can easily see the stars. Now click anywhere in the black space and the stars will be displayed.\u00a0 To change them, just change any of the settings and it will be altered immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Star<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

One of my favorite tools is the interstellar gas.\u00a0 This tool\u2019s settings are displayed below. Click anywhere in your universe and it will display the gas based on the settings.\u00a0 If you do not like this \u201csampling\u201d, click on the \u201cRandomize\u201d button (highlighted below) to see a different sampling.\u00a0 We recommend that you play around with the different settings to see what they can do.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0If you don\u2019t like your changes, you can always click on the \u201cRestore Defaults\u201d button (also highlighted below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Interstellar<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

For instance, if you increase the frequency, the gas pattern has more \u201cnoise\u201d (see below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Try<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

All of the tools (except the star field) have two large buttons labeled \u201cOrientation\u201d and \u201cLocation\u201d (highlighted below).\u00a0 When clicked, the orientation button appears \u201cdepressed\u201d. You can then freely rotate the selected object.\u00a0 Below shows a newly placed Neptune style planet being rotated by right-clicking your mouse and dragging it over the object.\u00a0\u00a0 When the \u201cLocation\u201d button is pressed, you can change where the object is placed in the scene.\u00a0 Simply click your mouse at the new location and the object will move there.\u00a0 Remember to \u201cdeselect\u201d either of these buttons when you are finished using that feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Orientation<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

If you would like to edit a different object, click on the down arrow in the displayed \u201cObject\u201d, and you will see the objects that you have already added.\u00a0 There is a check mark (see highlighted below) next to the object which is currently selected.\u00a0 To edit or view the settings for a different one, simply select it (displayed in blue).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
